Bluewater Studio is a self contained unit in the downstairs of our house. It has its own separate bathroom and toilet. The room itself is a good size with a nice Queen bed. It has its own dining table, lounge chairs and amenities for meals including microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, cutlery and crockery. It also has an outside table and chairs for fine weather dining and a gust only BBQ.
The shops and restaurants are only 500metres walk from the gate.
Sue and Barry have lived in the area for several years and are always happy to share their "#littlesliceofparadise" with visitors. They have run larger accommodation business in Tairua and now are semi retired. Barry is a keen fisherman who also enjoys his part time Handyman business. Sue is a superb cook who enjoys her part time retail fashion work.
Tairua is a great base for exploring the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsular. We have several very nice walks in and around Tairua itself including Mount Paku, an easy walk up with spectacular views up and down the coast from the top . For bird lovers the estuary is both a home and stopping off point for a number of bird species. Our Ocean Beach is great for surfing and swimming and the estuary has several good swimming spots with water almost getting to bath temperature at some spots on warm summer days. For the kayaker and stand up paddleboarders the estuary offers areas to explore.
We have a couple of excellent charter skippers operating from Tairua and with a bit of local knowledge (from Barry or Sue) there is good shore fishing at times too.
Further afield Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove are only 30 minutes leisurely drive away. Both are iconic visitor must do spots. Just north of Tairua is the beautiful Te Karo Bay, often known by it side road name, Sailors Grave and just a 20 minute walk over the hill brings you to Otara Bay. Both spots are popular with locals.
