We recently completed a new addition to our property, which boasts a gorgeous north-facing, self-contained studio unit with all-day sunshine, double-glazing, excellent insulation, and stunning views of Lake Tekapo, Mt John and the high country mountains. The studio has a gorgeous kitchenette with everything you will need for your stay. There is a fantastic bathroom with a large shower, a heated towel rail, and a wall heater. The studio is perfect for couples & singles and is ideally located in the new Lochinver subdivision.
John and I moved to Lake Tekapo at the end of 2020 with our 15-year-old daughter for a change of lifestyle and to enjoy the incredible array of activities available in the Mackenzie District. We love snow skiing, hunting, mountain biking, boating, walking, and hiking. John works as a teacher in Twizel, while Martina works from home as a German translator. We are also artisan coffee roasters and have a small coffee roasting business on the premises. As we live on-site, we are very happy to offer our guests any advice or local knowledge to ensure their stay is memorable and fulfilling.
Lochinver is a new and quiet subdivision boasting fantastic lake views. It is a 2min drive to the village centre and all amenities Tekapo has to offer including restaurants, some retail shops, Tekapo Hot Springs, and the Church of the Good Shephard. The Cowans Hill walkway is on our back doorstep. Round Hill Ski Field is a 30 mins drive away. The Tekapo Regional Park is a 15min walk or 2 min drive. This has numerous walks and cycle tracks including a pump track. There is excellent hunting close by and trout/salmon fishing in the lake and canals. Aoraki/Mount Cook is a good hours drive with several walks, in particular, the "Hooker Track".

Lake Tekapo is a rural alpine village, and road access can sometimes be affected by weather conditions, snow, ice, or accidents. From time to time, roads may be temporarily closed for several hours until the situation is resolved.
As with many rural areas in New Zealand, power outages can occur occasionally—either planned for maintenance or unplanned due to weather or accidents. These can last anywhere from a few hours to, in rare cases, a couple of days.
While this is beyond our control, we will do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. However, please note that we are unable to offer refunds in the case of any of these events.
For peace of mind, we strongly recommend travel insurance to cover any unforeseen disruptions to your trip.
