Self-contained 1 bedroom studio, just 2 minutes from the Lake Hawea lakefront and 15 minutes from Wanaka township. Boosting beautiful mountain views, and located close to the lake, and river trails (including the Te Aroha trail). An easy 2-minute walk from the local pub, restaurant takeaways and supermarket.
This is a small but pretty cabin, located at rear of the garden, surrounded by trees. It would best suit an independent traveller or couple. The owner’s home is also on the front property, so guests can feel confident and safe during their stay.
This cabin has a lovely comfortable double bed. It has a little but well-appointed kitchenette where you can cook and a modern ensuite bathroom. Very sunny and warm. Air conditioned. It has a flat screen TV with DVD's, HDMI, Chromecast. The cabin is approximately 3 metres by 6 metres in floor space.
Small deck to relax in the sun or at night look up at our beautiful starry sky!
Most guests wish they had booked for more than one night!
I am a business consultant and holiday home host. I live in onsite with my family. I enjoy entertaining and showing people the beautiful area I live in. I enjoy gardening, reading, music, food and wine. I have travelled around the USA, Europe and UK and Ireland. If you stay with me, I can guide you on an authentic NZ experience, meeting local people and showing you places that tourists wouldn't normally find.
During your stay::
The cabin is on my back lawn but in a private setting. I try not to bother guests and let you have privacy. I am generally home most of the day working from home and able to assist with any queries during your stay.
There is a dog currently living on the property. He is very friendly, old Labrador.
Other things to note::
I generally try and be as quiet as possible when guests are staying and will inform guests when they book if a social occasion is planned while they are staying. We generally like to have a few drinks and some music after work on Friday nights, which means it can be a little noisy x1 night of the week. Please do not book Friday nights if you are looking for a particularly quiet night. You are welcome to join in! Please ask if you have any questions about this.
Lake Hawea is a truly special place, if you are after an authentic kiwi location during your travels then consider booking for more than one night.
Lake Hawea is a paradise for those who love the outdoors, hiking, boating, biking, fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, skiing, and more. Handy to Wanaka, vineyards, ski resorts and Queenstown, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Central Otago climate and landscape. Adrenaline seekers also have a range of activities to choose from with skydiving, jetboating, bungy jumping, downhill mountain biking and more.
There are 2 restaurants within 2 minutes walk of the cabin, 2 takeaway places, a bar and a local supermarket.
My house is a 2 minute walk from the lake!
Guests always comment after they arrive that there is plenty to do around this area and it is very central to many activities.
The period between 23rd December and 6th Jan is a noisy and social time in this area, as we are situated quite close to the local pub. During the festive season, we also have a lot of BBQs and social gatherings as we are all on our Summer holiday. Please only book this room during this time if you are happy with this.
Consider booking for more than one night! Many guests wish they had!
