Conveniently located on a back road short cut between Auckland and the Coromandel, coming through Hunua cuts off quite a large amount of travelling on the motorway with the opportunity for a peaceful and restful stop in a quiet rural location where guests can wake to the sound of birdsong not traffic and enjoy the views from the property across open farmland.
The check-in and check-out times are there for a reason, I work long hours and get up around 3.30am on work days so need to be in bed early hence why I do not encourage or like late check-ins. Check-out by 9am is so I can work on my block on my days off after guests have left.
Please note the room WADE MOTORHOME is a motorhome and is NOT inside the main house. Sleeping only on motorhome, all other facilities are used INSIDE the house NOT on the motorhome. You have to step up to the bed which is over the cab so if you have comorbidities or unfit/obese this will not be suitable.
I was born in England and emigrated to New Zealand in 2004. I run this 13 acre block with beef cattle and horses as well as my two miniature long-haired Dachshunds and my farm dog Rottweiler x Blue Heeler.
I enjoy meeting new people from different countries and sharing experiences. I grow my own vegetables which are used in my meals as well as produce my own beef from my paddocks as well as working full-time at a large hospital in Auckland.
There are a couple of bespoke restaurants in the area - Bracu at Bombay and John Hill Vineyard in Hunua. For a more casual but beautiful setting there is the Red Shed at Drury set in an old garden centre with wisteria blooms hanging amongst the outside seating area.
A short distance out of Hunua village is Hunua Falls and the Hunua Ranges National Park as well as the Wairoa Dam where guests can visit and go hiking.
Each room has a book containing information on things to do in the area, local restaurants and places of interest as well as house rules and WiFi code. All bed linen and towels are provided.
