We will usually be on hand to greet you, but on the occasion we are not available, there is a keypad for you to let yourselves in. Into the foyer, turn left down the hall, and you will find the entrance to your private space. The apartment is in a wing of our home, but separated by a lockable door and has an additional exit from the private patio. The kitchenette does not have a sink, but the bonus for guests is that your hosts do the dishes. Just pop the dishes in the container provided and put on the table outside the doorway to the apartment. The convection microwave in the kitchenette is perfect for reheating or cooking frozen ready meals, but the kitchenette is not set up for conventional cooking. If you have guests travelling with you who would prefer not to share a bed, we are able to add a trundle bed to the larger of the two bedroom.

My husband, Chris, and I feel very blessed to live in this beautiful place and we are keen to share our property with guests. We love traveling ourselves, avoiding hotels wherever possible, preferring to stay where we can have a more personal experience. We feel our apartment offers this experience to our guests.

We back onto the tidal Tara Creek, and even have our own small jetty. The creek, forms the upper part of the Mangawhai Estuary. At the end of our road is the perfect launching place for either a kayak or a paddleboard. If you're a walker, the Estuary is 25 mins walk, and the Surf Beach 35 mins. In the summer the Surf Beach has both great coffee and frozen yoghurt carts, with tables and umbrellas set up beside. It's only a matter of minutes by car to either of these places. Wood Street, again a few minutes drive away, offers a well stocked grocery store, a pharmacy, bookstore, deli, and a wide range of eating/drinking establishments. Mangawhai Village is 10 minutes drive across the causeway and is the home of the historic Mangawhai Tavern, which hosts a large market every Saturday. There is an additional Saturday market beside the Mangawhai Beach School. Mangawhai Central, a new addition, contains a supermarket and home handyman store, along with a patisserie, while other retail outlets are being added all the time.
