The Stables is our retreat style two bedroom studio.
Rural enough to be peaceful and private but with all the convenience of Cambridge a short 7 min drive away (or 15 min bike if you're coming for the cycling)
Beautifully appointed with organic, local and homemade continental breakfast, and organic linen on the beds too!
It is a two room, bed and breakfast with a pool and outside bath. All the mod cons for warmth in winter including woodburner and underfloor heating or just open the sliding doors to fresh air and the pool to cool you down in summer.
The bunkroom sleeps five with a queen room opening onto the deck and pool. A beautiful bathroom separates the two with walk in shower all on one level and spacious for accessibility.
Looking out over the pool to the Muangakawa hills you'll slip into tranquil holiday mode immediately.
Come and see for yourself!
Penelope and her family of 6 have lived in Aspin road for 9 years, we built 'The Stables' for friends and family coming from Australia and the UK but while the borders were closed it became a very popular spot for NZ travellers.
I have a busy life of four children (all living away from home now but still seem to need me ), two dogs, two horses and a number of hats that I wear, mother being my favourite, yet hardest role !
I am a born and bred Waikato girl so I know the area and many locals so can point you in the right direction for any activity you can think of.
I have lived and travelled in many countries so much of the decor is art and eclectic finds from NZ and around the world. If you're looking for a minimalist vibe The Stables is not for you :)
Fifth generation dairy farmer I can take you to see my working farm if you like or organise horse riding with a local stable. (costs apply for offsite activities)
Anyway, come and stay and find out for yourself how wonderful the mighty Waikato is!!
Cambridge is the centre of horseracing, cycling and rowing in NZ, with restaurants galore in Cambridge or Hamilton.
'The Stables' is also within 30 mins of Hobbitton, Mystery Creek, or Hamilton international airport, Maungatautari 'Sanctuary Mountain - the largest predator free native enclosure in the world.
Cambridge, 'town of trees' is charming with lovely boutiques, cafes, history, and the Velodrome.
Lake Karapiro hosts world class rowing and Waka ama events, glow worm caves and there is jetboating on the Waikato river from near the town centre.
Hamilton is a bustling city with many attractions, people come from all over the world to The Hamilton Gardens. There are always arts or cultural events on.
'The Stables' is on one of our most popular road cycling routes in the rural outskirts of Cambridge, flanked on all sides by farmland, only two hours from each coast, the mountains, Lake Taupo and barely two hours south of Auckland.
It's the perfect stopoff, en route to anywhere !
