We built our retirement home in Company Bay. We wanted a property that was purpose built with 2 accommodation studio units' downstairs. They have a commanding view of the Otago Peninsular and views of Dunedin city. We chose the site as it is in a very quiet street, 1 house away from the bus stop and the Peninsular cycle/walkway. The site is a fantastic space to sit, relax and watch the boats entering the harbor. The sunsets are amazing.
My husband and I have been married for 45 years. Our daughter lives in Cromwell with her partner and 3 children and our son lives in Wellington with his partner and 2 children.
We spent the past 45 years in Cromwell, Central Otago. The last 6 years there we had a very successful bed and breakfast in the main St.
We moved to Dunedin and built our retirement home with attached accommodation as we had enjoyed our bnb in Cromwell.
We both enjoy socializing with our friends, biking and walking, going out for lunches and dinners, visiting our families.
Russell enjoys watching sports, especially rugby and cricket and car racing.
I enjoy knitting, cross stitch, sudoku, movies and catching up with my friends.
Nearby on the peninsular there are many attractions. The albatross colony and seals are very popular along with the yellow eyed penguin colony. You can take a ride on the wildlife boat cruise.
You can bike around the newly finished bike/walk track taking the boat across to Port Chalmers.
The historic Carey's Bay Restaurant is a great stop for a delicious luncheon on the way past.
Portobello is a lovely seaside town with the popular pub, and nearby restaurant and cafe. A great vantage point to watch the huge cruise ships coming into berth at Port Chalmers.
Larnach Castle is a must see, and also Glenfalloch restaurant and gardens is a lovely place to spend some time.
