Complimented with an automatic Suzuki Jimny 4x4 (self-drive) for your island adventures, this ruby-painted bungalow is the twin of our Amber Lodge. Blending nipa, bamboo, and mahogany, it offers a warm island hideaway where nature and architecture meet. The open ground lodge welcomes fresh breezes and birdsong, while the nipa-roofed upper floor provides cozy comfort beneath ruby tones that glow at sunset. Fireflies often visit at night, creating a magical atmosphere right outside your window. Guests enjoy access to an infinity pool shaded by a centuries-old tree, complimentary breakfast with local flavors, and the tranquil garden sanctuary surrounding The Louvers House. Our location is just 44 minutes from the Port of Siquijor and close to the island’s treasures: Cambugahay Falls, Salagdoong Beach, Sambulawan Cave, and Lazi Church. For your adventures, a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 awaits at the port with a full tank—please return it the same way.
After 35+ years in Paris and over 25 years with UNESCO, I returned to the Philippines and fell in love with Siquijor. I love nature and believe in protecting it, which is why my place is surrounded by trees, mountains, and ocean views. Hosting lets me share this dream island through warm conversations, local insights, and a cozy space where guests feel at home. I also speak French.
Guests love staying in Maria because it offers a perfect balance of peace, authenticity, and access to some of Siquijor’s most remarkable treasures. The neighbourhood itself is quiet and filled with the charm of island living—surrounded by lush greenery, coconut groves, and the sound of birds in the morning. Many visitors say that what they like most is the sense of serenity here; it feels like an escape from the busy tourist spots, while still keeping you close enough to explore the highlights of the island with ease. Just a short drive away, you’ll find Salagdoong Beach, famous for its crystal-clear waters, cliff diving, and postcard-perfect views. It’s one of the best spots on the island to swim, snorkel, or simply lounge by the shore. For those who love culture and history, Maria also has a beautiful old church and convent that reflect the island’s Spanish heritage. Guests often enjoy strolling through these sites, learning about local traditions, and capturing photos of the unique architecture. Food lovers appreciate that Maria offers a taste of both local and international cuisine. Small eateries and family-run restaurants serve fresh seafood, barbecues, and Filipino classics. At the same time, charming cafés and laid-back spots cater to visitors who want good coffee, tropical fruit shakes, or even wood-fired pizza while admiring views of the mountains and sea. Nature enthusiasts will also find the location ideal. In less than half an hour, you can reach Cambugahay Falls, with its turquoise pools and rope swings, or head toward the enchanting Lazi Convent and Church, both recognized as heritage landmarks. The Tulapos Marine Sanctuary is also nearby, where you can snorkel among vibrant corals and even spot turtles in their natural environment. What ties it all together is that Maria feels authentic and unspoiled. Guests often mention that the locals are warm and welcoming, creating a sense of belonging from the moment you arrive.
