“Casa d’Avó Guida”
This house was built in 1912. Made of basaltic stone and Pinus sylvestris wood, it is located in the heart of Ponta Delgada.
The last owners were Maria Margarida Botelho de Paiva Ferreira Pacheco (Grandmother Guida (“Avó Guida”)) and Tiago Ferreira Pacheco (Uncle Tiago).
The house is located at Rua Dr. Bruno Tavares Carreiro, that was the last doctor of Antero de Quental, one of the greatest poets from Portugal, born in Saint Michael Island.
Nowadays, after being restored in 2016, it is prepared to receive guests from all over the world, that visit our beautiful island.

Parking: Outside you can find a pay park at Rua do Castilho (parallel to ours), and a free park near São Miguel Park Hotel, about 500 meters up and left the street.
Restaurant: "Bar Aliança" for loin steak (medium to rare); "A Tasca" for tuna steak - reserve first.
Museum: Carlos Machado, with a large preserved animal collection.
Gardens: Jardim António Borges and Jardim José do Canto. Palácio de Santana (when possible). - all have a large collection of trees.
Outside the city:
The 3 Lagoons for natural beauty: Lagoa das Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo and Lagoa das Furnas. Can´t lose Furnas, to see the volcanic "boilers" and Parque Terra Nostra (take an old bathing suit for the warm yellow water).
The island have plenty of basaltic sand beaches. Good sea water temperature from july to december. Avoid ocasional jellyfish at sea. We don´t have dangerous animals on land, like snakes or spiders.
