Located in the village of Santa Barbara, it’s distanced about 20 minutes by car from the city of Angra do Heroísmo and 7 minutes away from the bathing area of Cinco Ribeiras.
It offers its guests a relaxed and comfortable stay, with a particular view to the islands of Sao Jorge and Pico, as well as the Santa Barbara hill. With a wide garden and terrace, where you can have your meals or simply observe the Atlantic ocean.
It’s built over 2 floors, with access by wooden stairs. On the top floor (the entrance floor) it has access to the living room (with tv, books and games), bathroom (with hairdryer, towel heater), kitchen equipped (including microwave, toaster, coffee machine) and a single/twin room (1 or 2 single beds). The lower floor has a single bedroom, with a double bed (but has space for an extra bed / crib). It has free wi-fi access.
The Trigueirinha’s house also offers a trip through its history, about the ones who lived there and the regional traditions, whether through the house’s construction characteristics (including the wood fired oven), or through the decorative elements.
In Santa Barbara village, you can enjoy some natural corners: the sightseeing zone at the top of Santa Barbara hill, located in the middle of the natural reserve, where you can see the cloud-forest, mostly the endemic Azores juniper (Juniperus brevifolia), and be swept away with a charming view over the island and the majority of the islands of the Azorean central group; the leisure area of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda (direction signs as N. Srª da Ajuda, with a picknick area, sightseeing place and bull plaza) and the picknick area of Ribeira das 6.
If you would enjoy knowing the ways and traditions of this island, visit Venda do Camilo, where you can see and buy Terceira handcrafts, and see a working linen weaving machine. At the building of Santa Barbara Philarmonic Society, you can visit the exhibit terceira “miniature rural living” by Mr. Dimas Alves; at the village hall, the exhibit of miniature replicas out of lapilli rocks, by handcrafter Ricardo Santos.
Annually, at this village, and starting on the last Saturday of August, happens the Santo Antonio feast –festivity that includes religious events (mass and procession over a flower carpet) and prophane events (concerts...).
