Located in one of the most typical areas of the city and surrounded by history, Casa do Castelo Apartment is in the first row of houses outside the main fortification of the Castle. A house where the light, breeze and the view over the Largo (“Largo" is the portuguese word for small square), create´s a peaceful and serene environment where you can recover and relax after a day in the city. Located in Largo do Contador Mor, this is a place markedly by the traditional portuguese life, and surronded by gentle, friendly quiet and attentive neighbors.
Casa do Castelo is located just by the side of São Jorge Castle , Alfama , Mouraria , Largo das Portas do Sol , Sé (Santa Maria Maior Cathedral), Mirador de Santa Luzia, Graça and Sr.ª do Monte (“mirador" is the portuguese word for viewpoint) , Flea Market (Feira da ladra in Campo de Santa Clara) , S. Vicente de Fora and S. Cristóvão Church, Museum of Decorative Arts, Fado Museum, MUDE, Santa Justa Elevator , Rua Augusta Triomph Arch, Teatro de S. Carlos(opera House), Casa dos Bicos, Chiado and Bairro Alto . Here you are just by the side of the most famous tram in the world: Eléctrico 28 (that leads you to a amazing and pleasent trip through the city), and restaurants like Bica do Sapato, Boi Cavalo, Esperança da Sé, Taberna do Vilarinho, Mourisca, and traditional fado places (Mêsa de Frades - the one i most love), but also Parrerinha de Alfama e Clube de Fado (honestly, i think Clube de Fado is too much touristic).
In Casa do Castelo Apartment you are 10 minutes walk from the city center (Baixa, Chiado, Rossio, Terreiro do Paço), from the underground/Metro (the most near is Rossio or Baixa/Chiado) and from the main train stations : Cais do Sodré (that leads you to Cascais/Estoril: beach!!), Rossio that leads you to Sintra and Santa Apolónia that leads you to the North: Porto, Coimbra, Braga and Aveiro.
About beach: if you dont have car, the best and easiest way to get to a good beach is to get the train in Cais do Sodré Railway Station. I advise you to beach named “Praia das Moitas” in Monte Estoril (opposite the former Hotel Estoril Sol .... which unfortunately was demolished) . It is one of the best beaches, with easy access from the train station. It has restaurants and is usually well attended . Catch the train at Cais do Sodré station and get out in Monte Estoril stop/station. Then walk a little by the wall parallel to the sea until you reach the beach. Another option is to go to Cascais and then walk back t´ill Praia das Moitas... a walk around Cascais is always nice.
