There is a lot to see in the vicinity of Zvolen. Directly above the city stands Pustý hrad, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe, or the "newer" Zvolen Castle, which was built by Louis I according to the model of Italian city castles. The Badín forest a few kilometers from the city will enchant nature lovers. Fans of culture, history and monuments will be delighted by the Vígľa Castle or the monuments listed in the UNESCO list – the wooden articular church in Hronsek (the only one of its kind in Horehroní) or the romantic Banská Štiavnica. Bystré waterfall Bystré Potok waterfall (or Bystré waterfall) is a protected natural creation in the Podpoľania area in the cadastre of the city of Hriňová. The waterfall is more than 20 meters high, making it one of the largest in Slovakia. The easiest access is from Hriňová or from the Poľana cottage.
