There are a few beaches in the area, including ‘twins’ Thongson Bay and Samrong Beach, both of which provide visitors with shallow waters for wading around and very peaceful surroundings. Only 18 minutes drive away, Bophut Beach is arguably the most popular with its Fisherman’s Village. Old wooden shop houses add to the charm of the street, where you’ll find fashion boutiques, restaurants and dive shops. Every Friday, the main street is turned into a pedestrians-only night market. Packed with bars and clubs, the busy town of Chaweng also comes alive at night till the early morning. Other nearby attractions include Art Samui 3D, a museum of 3D optical illusions – a fun backup activity for the family when it rains during your holiday. There is also the Samui Elephant Sanctuary, which is a haven for elephants, just enjoying life in their natural habitat.
