Backpackers, Travellers, Tourists -
If you are looking for a place to stay in Dar es Salaam away from the hustle and bustle of the city center,
if you are tired of the usual standard of low budget hostels and hotels and not willing to spend a fortune at the big hotels,
if you wish to experience the private and exotic atmosphere of Tanzanian everyday life –
then you are welcome at Eazy’s Place.
Eazy’s Place is a private initiative of Xenia Marita and Bernd Riebe (Germany) in order to support young people in Tanzania to build their own business and is another approach to help people to help themselves. Eazy, over the years, has become a dear friend to us who has proven many times that he is capable of leading a successful business.
Staying at Eazy's Place is nothing for just one transfer night, staying here for several days means enjoying a kind of unique vacation. Your host Eazy Mjema has worked as a tour guide for several years and has become a well known artist. Some of his unique batik artworks are created in his workshop on his plot and you are invited to watch him creating his batik fabrics. Last but not least he is an excellent cook serving traditional local meals.
I'm an artist creating unique batik, there is a workshop on my property. You can also take an course here or just enjoy watching me doing the design, dying etc. I also used to work as a tourist guide in the Arusha area and in the nearby Bagamoyo. However most of all I am your host, according to my reviews my guests like my being friendly, helpful and open minded.
It's hard to describe myself here, let me just quote Yvon, one recent guest:
" Eazy is an amazing cook, artist, person with a huge heart, who is always happy and ready to do anything for you.
I will never forget my time there, it was perfect. When I travel, I always get a migraines the first few days due to stress, and stomach issues due to change in nutrition. This time I had nothing, I felt so at ease, the food was fresh and perfectly done, I could not have made a better choice." (from TripAdvisor, 18 March 2016)
Eazy's Place is located on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam about 12 km north of the City Center. Arriving at the international airport or the ferry port we could pick you up either by car or Bajaji. So let us know the time and place of your arrival or call Eazy directly. The transfer from the city to the Eazy's Place will be free if you stay longer than three nights, as many guests do.
As Eazy studied at the Bagamoyo Art College he knows the area very well and is acquainted to many local artists. He also knows a lot about the history of the town Bagamoyo which in Swahili means “Lay down your heart” alluding to the age of slave trading. There are many historical buildings and sights to discover. Eazy will lead you to the famous Bagamoyo College of Art, the German cemetery, around the well preserved houses and the old church dating back to the colonial area. Eazy could also introduce you to some local artists such as painters and wood carvers. After this historical and cultural experience there will be enough time to enjoy the beautiful Bagamoyo Beach.
