Property information

Desert Star Historic Studio Apartments are six studio apartments, featuring vintage furnishings, art and more. We are artists and art collectors and have added art and vintage accessories with comfortable, museum-quality vintage furnishings to each apartment appropriate to the property. While the footprint of the apartments is the same, each is decorated in a different, but midcentury appropriate manner. Take a look at the photos of each unit to determine which to choose for your visit. Howard Lapham was the 1954 designer who built the property as a long term vacation getaway for travelers from colder climates. The property was converted to individual studio apartment condos in the early 2000's and each is used as short term vacation rental apartments today.

Neighbourhood information

This Tahquitz Creek neighborhood is quiet and serene at the south (non-windy) part of town. A shared salt water pool with only 6 studio apartments around it, and the wonderful, restored "class one historic architecture" make for an unforgettable stay. We have filled the apartments with art, books on architecture and design and vintage furnishings to make each special.
