The spacious Okra Inn Carrollton has been beautifully renovated into a licensed B&B-the perfect place for your group in New Orleans. Check out our reviews - people love staying with us! Located in lively Mid-City, the Okra Inn is about 10 minutes from the French Quarter, 1 mile from City Park, and 4 blocks from the Canal Streetcar line. We have off-street parking for up to 3 vehicles and are just a minute off the interstate. We love New Orleans and we think that once you stay here, you will too!
The Inn is a large camelback double which has recently been expanded and renovated into a licensed Bed & Breakfast, also functioning as a vacation home for groups. During the renovation we took great care to keep the distinctively New Orleanian character of the home and prevent it from being another bland, forgettable rental space. The house features 12-foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, beautiful molding, and a jazzy blend of colors. Upstairs are six bedrooms and four full bathrooms, so there's plenty of room for your group of up to 12 guests. Downstairs is a spacious living room, dining room, and stocked kitchen, as well as another half bathroom. The rear of the building holds the off-street parking as well as a breezy back porch overlooking a huge back yard. Pretty much everyone who stays with us says they think the space is amazing; come see why!
We live in a separate space within the house, so we are easily available and will probably see each other coming and going. However, we will not enter the space during your stay unless you give us permission, or in emergencies.
Firearms are prohibited. Smoking is only allowed outside on porches and in the yard. We have certain rules regarding noise in place to reflect the fact that we live within the house, and we ask that if guests are in New Orleans to party, they do so out on the town instead of in the house. Bachelor(ette) parties, please inquire before booking to confirm expectations. Thanks!
Hi all!
We're Lindsay, Adam, Penny, David and Ringo. Lindsay is a fifth generation New Orleanian, and Penny and David are sixth generation. Lindsay started The Okra Inn in 2014 and now it's a family business, hosting group stays and individual guests at two locations in Mid-City, New Orleans.
Thanks for looking at The Okra Inn! If you'd like more information, send a message. We look forward to having you!
Mid City is the heart of the city! Hop on the streetcar and enjoy a pleasant, inexpensive ride to the French Quarter anytime, day or night. As well as the Quarter, Mid-City is a good spot to access the rest of New Orleans' memorable neighborhoods such as Uptown, Treme, and the Lakefront.
Or enjoy all that Mid City has to offer. We are within ONE AND A HALF MILES of:
More than 50(!) locally owned restaurants, including Parkway Bakery and Tavern (probably the world's best po'boy shop)
More than 15 bars (including three music venues)
Five coffee shops
Three grocery stores and two specialty markets
One very large beautiful park (City Park, which is larger than New York's Central Park!)
One art museum (The New Orleans Museum of Art)
One sculpture garden (Sydney and Walda Besthoff Garden at New Orleans Museum of Art)
One bayou (Bayou St John, the only one in town)
One famous beignet stands (Cafe du Monde in City Park, open 6 AM-midnight)
One famous Italian bakery and gelato shop (Angelo Brocato's)
One accessible swimming pool (The Drifter Hotel)
One Hurricane Katrina Memorial
Kayak and paddle boat rentals (On the Bayou and in City Park)
Great examples of New Orleans' famous above-ground cemeteries
Y'all are going to love it!
