I would recommend that people google "The Franschhoek Wine Tram" website. There are five separate routes which provide a fun and safe way to experience a number of our beautiful wine estates. The village market in the town centre operates every Saturday morning is worth a visit, as is the Huguenot Monument and the very impressive motor museum which is on the outskirts of the town. Annual festivals include the Bastille weekend, The MCC (sparkling wine) festival, The Uncorked Wine Festival, The Summer Wine Festival and the highly acclaimed Literary Festival. Franschhoek is regarded as a safe place to visit and you are able to walk around fairly freely. There is petty crime on occasion and one must be aware of this and ask the locals for advice when necessary.
