Joubert & Leana Hay bought the property in 2010 and immediately started to renovate. We loved the fact that we can share the beautiful village of Clarens with guests! We are within walking distance from the main square. We kept only the outside walls of the main house. In the inside everything were changed. We decided to built Unit 1 as a flatlet. The main house is a holiday home for the family. We are planning to move to Clarens permanently in the near future. With 8 garages on the property we decided to change the outside buildings as well into Unit 2 & 3. The name "Bella Vista" comes from the family farm of Leana`s family - Groenewald - in the Clocolan district between Clocolan & Ladybrand & Tandjiesberg. Leana cherish a happy childhood in the Eastern Free State, near the Maluti Mountains and the Caledon River. Bella Vista means "Beautiful View". The beautiful old sandstone house belonged to her grandfather - Hannes & Anna Groenewald. It is sad that the family sold the farm because of regularly stock theft from the nearby Lesotho border. We gladly share our beautiful property with guests who want to rest and enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the Eastern Free State and the village of Clarens. We don`t allow noise, parties, any guests without paying and we don`t allow groups and functions. Please phone us any time of the night or day to inform the police of any misconduct in this regard. We want you to build beautiful memories!
We love the Eastern Free State with its sandstone cliffs, green summers & blue skies! The tranquil village ambience combined with scenic views and the mild climate has made Clarens our favorite break away place and we wanted to share this opportunity with the world. They call Clarens the "Jewel of the Free State!" We sincerely hope our guests can build beautiful memories at Bella Vista and enjoy the great outdoors & giving praise to our Heavenly Father for His divine craftsmanship.
