Dungbeetle Cottage is located on a narrow strip of land between the river and the ocean. It is perched on a hill with sweeping river and mountain views. It is North facing and is very sunny and protected from the ocean breeze. It is a 2 minute walk from the ocean with the long Wilderness beach. It is in a quiet and safe neighbourhood where we value respect for each other and cultivate good relationships. No parties or loud music is allowed.
The house has 3 ensuite bedrooms each with a kingsize bed. Downstairs there is a large open plan living area that flows out onto a large paved deck with a fire pit and where you can sit and enjoy the magnificent views. each bedroom upstairs also has a deck with magic views. The house looks out over the Wilderness Lakes National Park with its many hiking trails and stunning natural beauty. Wilderness Village is 5 km away with convenient supermarket, restaurants, coffee shops and everything you may need. The house has a smart tv, WiFi, a solar system as power backup and everything to make it possible to work online if needed. Phiri is the housekeeper who will receive you and make your stay enjoyable. Go for endless forest, beach or trail walks or paddle in one of 3 directions in a canoe. you can also just soak up the sun on the large viewing deck
I grew up in the Garden Route and rate it as the most beautiful place in the world. We established our accommodation on this location as it has all the best features of the Garden Route including Northern sun for the winter months. It is the centre of the Garden Route and for outdoor enthusiasts all activities can be undertaken right from your doorstep. Phiri is the housekeeper and lives on one of the properties. He is mostly available to help
The property borders onto the Garden Route National park and is a Mecca for nature lovers, paddlers, hikers, cyclists, swimmers and birders. it looks down on the famous Fairy Knowe hotel and Joplins famous steakhouse is 1km away. The beach walks from your doorstep is breathtaking and with low tide one can easily walk 10 km in either direction. If you are a paddler, you can paddle to the river mouth, up the Ebb n Flow or up the Serpentine towards Island Lake. The various Kingfisher trails in the Garden Route National Park are legendary and you are likely to see some wonderfull birds and even some small antelope
