MacLeod House Guest Cottage is a self-contained stone cottage nestled on the edge of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve.
The open plan accommodation is elegantly decorated in an Edwardian style but with all the modern conveniences you might require, including a Smart Projector & screen and a fully functional kitchen. The cottage overlooks the magnificent Krantzkloof gorge. There is an abundance of bird life for birding enthusiasts and a tranquil setting to relax in whilst enjoying the sound of the Nkonka Falls directly below the property.
THE COTTAGE IS FITTED WITH AN INVERTER AND UPS DEVICE TO ALLEVIATE POWER OUTAGES (LOADSHEDDING)
My husband, Aidan, and I bought MacLeod House in 2019 and have been busy since then renovating the house and cottage and establishing a garden. We realised how lucky we were to be in such a beautiful location and decided it would be a shame not to let others share the experience with us, hence opening up the cottage to guests.
We have two rescue dogs, Billy and Lola, who live with us. They are very friendly and also enjoy meeting new people. Our gardener and Jack of all Trades, Khofi, also lives on the premises. He has been with us from the beginning of this venture and has been instrumental in the transformation of the property. He is always happy to help, should you need any assistance.
MacLeod House is situated on the border of the Krantkloof Nature Reserve.
The Reserve, managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, conserves 668 ha of the Molweni and Nkutu River gorges that incise the sandstone Kloof plateau. The reserve has a number of self-guided walks which are marked with colour coded route markers to match the routes on the visitor guide and map and there are also a number of popular rock climbing sites. Visitors using these climbing sites are required to sign in and pay an entrance fee at the Kloof Falls picnic site before proceeding to the climbing sites.
The Nkonka Falls are located just below the property and are accessible by means of a wooden ladder and a short but fairly steep hike (about 2 minutes). For those not keen to do the walk, part of the falls can be viewed from the cleared area in front of the main house.
The Watercrest Shopping Mall is a 5 minute drive away and boasts a number of retail outlets, supermarkets, eateries and a cinema. Retailers range from large national tenants to smaller boutique stores.
Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market - 25 mins away by car but well worth the trip if markets are your "thing". Umhlanga Main Beach - 40 mins by car
