This property is mainly a family residence, offering two units to guests. The front garden is only for the owners' use, and guests are welcome to enjoy the larger back garden for relaxation and using the braai facility (mobile braai unit, not covered). Very basic and rustic space, garden appearance very definitely affected by season as everything is dry and affected by the frost in winter. Beautifully green in summer. Includes a washing line available to guests. Parking is under cover, and behind the main motorized gate. Space for one standard vehicle per unit, please your host of any additional vehicles or trailers. Other backyard characteristics include apple trees, a vegetable garden and a chicken coup with some laying hens. There are space for kids to run and play, and a tyre swing. Our excited Jack Russel, Meimei, will always join the fun!

I am mom to our two children. Apart from hosting our two guest units, I run the home, teach, garden, learn and chat about the most wonderful essential oils in my life, bake sourdough bread and rusks, and love getting out and recharging in nature, appreciating the work of our Creator! I am all about connection with those around me, not too much with admin - but I try my best!

Harrismith is a small town in the eastern Freestate. It boasts with a beautiful view of our mountain - Platberg. Though the roads are full of potholes, the welcome is warm and Protea Self Catering Accommodation is conveniently situated close to a small shopping centre with grocery store, a barber shop, a biltong&deli shop, a family restaurant named Klaradyn, a bottle store and a nursery. On Saturdays, we have a Parkrun starting at the gate of the Platberg Nature Reserve at 8:00. Harrismith is situated under an hour from Clarens via Golden Gate, easy access (provided the condition of Oliviershoek Pass does not deteriorate) to Northern Natal, inlcuding Royal Natal with Tugela and the Amphitheatre for world class hiking, as well as going up to Mount-Aux-Sources from Sentinel Peak parking on the Freestate side (road conditions require 4x4). Sterkfontein dam is only about 20 minutes drive. Ideal stop to break the long trip between inland cities and the coast.
