周辺エリアの情報
Simonstown is a historic seaside village on the warmer, sheltered side of the peninsula. Think Victorian charm, a working navy harbour, tidal pools and beaches, and the famous African penguins at Boulders Beach. The pace is relaxed and local—perfect for slow mornings, ocean swims, and sunset strolls along the bay.
Why guests love it:
- Boulders Penguin Colony & Foxy Beach boardwalks: Easy, pram-friendly walkways to view African penguins up close (no touching, keep distance).
- Seaforth & Water’s Edge beaches: Sheltered coves, rock pools, gentle waves—great for younger swimmers.
- Glencairn Tidal Pool: Safe seawater swimming a few minutes north of town.
- Boat trips from the harbour: Short coastal cruises for dolphin/whale spotting in season.
- Sea kayaking (calm mornings): Paddle past penguins and granite boulders—older kids love it.
- Admiral’s Waterfall walk: Short, scenic trail with bay views.
- South African Naval Museum: Submarines, model ships, and interactive exhibits.
- Simonstown Museum (“The Residency”): Local stories and maritime history.
- Scratch Patch & Cave Golf: Gemstone “scratch” fun and mini-golf.
- Warrior Toy Museum: Vintage toys and model displays.
- Jubilee Square & Just Nuisance statue: Quick photo stop and harbour views.
- Cape Point (±25–30 min): Big coastal scenery, beaches, and easy walks in the national park.
- Kalk Bay & St James (15–20 min): Tidal pools, quaint shops, and colourful fishing harbour.
Getting around:
Most essentials—shops, cafés, ATMs, pharmacies—are minutes away. A car makes exploring the peninsula easy, but Uber works well for local trips. Should you prefer a private driver or a local tour guide, let us know and we can arrange that for.
The False Bay side is warmer and less windy than the Atlantic; evenings can still be cool, so pack a layer.
Vibe:
Slow mornings, ocean swims, and golden-hour walks along the bay. Simon’s Town gives families room to breathe—wildlife, water, and wide views without the rush.
