Tucked away on the mountainside and overlooking the sea, this secret hideaway oozes the kind of relaxed and lazy holiday feeling that makes you want to put your feet up and stay forever. Nestled between the trees and with the sounds of waves crashing below, the comfy and cozy space is surrounded by sun, sea, sky, birds and such tangible tranquility that it will leave your Soul realising just how desperately it needed to breathe. This is an escape that is entirely unique and impossible to forget.
I have loved this special little area called Castle Rock ever since I first started diving here in 1988. Back then I had no idea that I would ever live here, yet each time I visited it felt like I was "home". Then, in 2010, I had an unexpected opportunity to move here and have been "home" ever since. Living here taught me something very special - "What is the point of having something beautiful if you can't share it?" and it was with this in mind that I set about creating a space where others can come to share and appreciate a little of what Castle Rock is all about.
Set in the Castle Rock Conservancy between Simon's Town (6km) and Cape Point Nature Reserve (4km), where natural open spaces abound. Castle and Pyramid Rocks - two of Cape Town's top scuba and freediving sites - are just metres away. Millers Point (made famous by the Oscar award-winning documentary My Octopus Teacher) is an easy (few hundred metres) stroll away. Boulders Penguin Colony is just 6km away. Kindly note that there are no public transport facilities in the area and that Uber and Bolt services are scarce, especially at night.
