Edo house is located perfectly between the train station and major sites. It's new, very clean and very tastefully arranged. The common space is clean and comfortable , excellent for working on my computer. Kitchen is well equipped with all new appliances and equipment. I stayed in a single room. Immaculate clean, quiet, very comfortable bed. Although showers are on the lower floor (also clean and new) there was a toilet room and sink conveniently placed by the bedrooms. There is a new very nice cafe connected to the guest house on the ground/first floor. There's a food shop right across the street.
If I return to Furukawa I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

High quality accomodation in a perfectly central location of this quiet town. All the amenities one could hope for. The updated bathroom is a work of art, and so high-tech! Be sure to make dinner arrangements early, reservation if at all possible, as once the clock hits 6:00 PM, it's very difficult to find somewhere that will serve you. Would definitely recommend.

The accomodation was simple as I expected of an old style Japanese guest house. Which of course means that you need to go in understanding that the bedding is a futon so not the best nights sleep. Ok for one night and really, the location and town make up for that. So beautiful. Also the staff are just lovely and helpful. Highlight was the dinner and breakfast. Top quality!

Magome Chaya is a wonderful traditional guest house with exquisite food…to walk along the Nakasendo Way without staying here would be a true loss…I was travelling alone..one night it was very quiet the other it was very busy…both were managed with equally calm efficiency….you must have the dinner and breakfast..Japanese food and presentation of the highest quality …the small town itself uniquely preserved on a hillside with so many stories of its own..
