After reading the rave reviews, I booked this stay months in advance to make sure we would not miss the opportunity to meet Ken and Yuki and to stay at their guesthouse boasting modern facilities and balancing comfort and sleek design with traditional Japanese architecture and minimalistic and elegant interior design. At the end of a long day hiking, we were greeted with a big smile as if we'd come home to our family, a feeling that is both priceless and heatwarming. Ken's kind and welcoming nature is only rivalled by Yuki's and her sense of humor. Dinner was as delicious as our breakfast (all guests shamelessly went for seconds and some even thirds taking the lead for a brave lady I shall not name), enjoyed to the sound of Jazz standards in a communal spirit shared with the other guests, all of whom polite and considerate, as if handpicked by the hosts or perhaps instinctively mirroring their behavior. Guests do not have to wait to take a shower because there are three showers, one of which with an additional bathtub, for four rooms. Everything is impeccably clean and organized, making you feel restful instantly. So, do not hesitate to book this guesthouse as you make your way along the Old Nakasendo Road or just take a taxi to Magome and walk a few hundred meters to take photos for your Insta. Whether you fit the former or latter category, you will be treated as a family member by the kindest people we've met during our 3-week stay in Japan. I've already recommended this guesthouse to everyone I know who is planning to visiting Japan.

THE MACHIYA HOTEL TAKAYAMA está en Takayama, a 7 min a pie de Estación de Takayama, y dispone de servicio de conserjería, habitaciones libres de humo, jardín, wifi gratis en todo el alojamiento y... The hotel is wonderful, the lounge includes a buffet and very cozy spaces to read and relax. There is the possibility to book a private onsen (for an extra fee). The room was clean, spacious, fully equipped and in full japanese style. We highly recommend staying here. Plus, the staff was extremely helpful and kind!

El Auberge Hidanomori, inaugurado en 2022, se encuentra en unas colinas tranquilas, a 10 minutos en transporte desde la estación JR de Takayama. The owner/chef and staffs were all incredibly welcoming. The feeling of total peace and serenity was indescribable. Also, the fact that there was no television in the room, lets you truly enjoy the nature that surrounds you.

玄Gen, que cuenta con bañera de hidromasaje y vistas al río, está en el centro de Takayama. The house is fully equipped. We even used the washing machine. Thank you. The host took good care of everything and offer himself to take us to the train station.
