We loved our stay and were so happy that we chose this quaint, private lodging option as it was surrounded by lovely forest and so much more affordable than the basic cabins at more posh resorts. It was less than 1/2 hour drive to Cradle Mountain hiking area but watch for animals at dusk - they are everywhere :) We stayed in the Quoll cabin and loved having two tables/chair set ups outside the main door and large window. Each day we were greeted by pademelons and a chorus of song birds. The cabin was well stocked, bedding super comfortable and the whirlpool bath / hottub was amazing after completing a long hike. The heating system was super efficient. The kitchen (equipped with a microwave and small fridge) was outfitted with everything we needed for simple meals. Check in process was super easy and there are a couple of new cafes on the corner offering amazing coffee at Blue Tree Gallery which also features a lovely array of local artisan products. The staff at nearby Cradle Gateway Cafe were super friendly but the breakfast sandwich and coffee was quite basic - they do offer dinner for pickup which is a nice option.

Dove Lake

For iconic views of Cradle Mountain, wander around Dove Lake. The glacier-sculpted peak is nearly always visible as you trek along the icy water's edge. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for wallabies, pademelons, and platypuses. If you're lucky, you might even see some Tasmanian devils!

Absolutely stunning views.

Absolutely stunning views. I recommend the walk of 6 km around the lake. Always be prepared for weather changes and any other eventualities. Respect nature and wildlife. For those who are adventurous the organised canyoning was exhilarating down Dove Canyon.

Don’t wait for the “perfect” season to visit Cradle Mountain. The mountain wears different colors throughout the year, and each season has its own charm. We visited in August, and it had a completely different beauty. We’ll definitely be coming back in summer to experience it in a new light.

Such a beautiful place, so full of natural beauty.

Such a beautiful place, so full of natural beauty. I'm just disappointed I wasn't well enough to walk further than the beginning of the lake. Plenty of short walks and longer ones if you want to or are up to walking (sadly, I was not).

The wooden boat house, on all the brochures is around the first bend over the hill. So keep walking for about 10 minutes and it will come into view! The stream runs to the west of the visitor centre along the walkway and is worth a visit just to sit, listen and ponder.

Brilliant, easy walk, very leisurely stroll taking photos soaking it all in. The weather is hugely changeable so pack for rain, wind etc Take a packed lunch and water for a picnic Every time you turn around the sun hits another spot and lights up an area, scenery is constantly changing with clouds etc - magnificent The National Parks deserve huge credit for their organisation of transport and the pathways etc, great design to keep people from doing extra damage traipsing where they should not be

Cute little private cabins with heating, kitchenette and great round spa bath looking out onto the surrounding bush. It was quite cold during our stay so after a rugged up walk to Dove Lake with a view of the majestic Cradle Mountain it was lovely to come "home" to the warmth of the cabin.

The room was very pretty and cosy, the location is very close to the bus terminal to get closer to dove lake and we had enough parking space to fit our cars outside our cabin which was great as it was raining a lot. The buffet restaraunt was fairly priced, the meals were very good and the atmosphere was very cosy and friendly.

The resort is close to the Cradle mountain visitors center, which is very convenient to take the shuttle bus to Dove lake and other places. The cabin was very spacious, and equipped with a kitchen which we could prepare our own meals if needed. The resort also has its own restaurant, which we absolutely enjoyed when we dined there. You can even borrow DVDs and watch movies in your cabin. You can also order breakfast hampers or lunch packs if needed.

Exceptional luxury mountain cabin. Well located: short walk across to National Park visitor centre and shuttle to Dove Lake. Beautifully furnished, well equipped kitchen including Miele dishwasher, premium teas and coffee supplies. Gorgeous bathroom with bath made for two, ideal after long hike. Underfloor heating in dressing area and bathroom an unexpected treat. The unanticipated welcome platter of cheese, crackers, fig paste, Tasmanian bubbles and chocolates made our day!

Perfect location to go to the tazzie devil sanctuary, and catch the shuttle to dove lake to see cradle mountain. Free wifi in club house, non in rooms, no TV either no phone access . Wildlife active at night, saw devils, wombats and a platypus (in the hotel pond). Gas open fire in room, lovely and warm, beds comfy. Free washing machines and dryer.
