Due to its secluded and hard-to-reach location, Joatinga Beach remains a real hidden gem of Rio. You’ll have to hire a car and then follow a short trail down to the coast, but the scenery is worth the effort. With white sand, rocky outcrops and wild turquoise sea, it’s an idyllic spot to try out some body surfing or watch the surfers from the shore.
