You can walk to downtown through the lovely Retiro park or take an Uber or cab. Walking time is an hour and it’s a great way to see the many facets of Madrid. There is a fridge microwave hot plate espresso machine (where they replenish the pods daily) and a kettle for tea. Easy walk to the grocery store. On the small Plaza del Carmen with multiple eateries and only one block off the Grand Via. We easily walked to the Plaza Mayor, the Prado Museum, El Retiro Park and more. Nice little bar downstairs and a full restaurant, though there are a thousand places to eat within a half mile. Staff was friendly and helpful.
