Not only is Thingvellir National Park as beautiful as a storybook, it’s also the meeting place of the oldest parliament in the world. A group of free men called The Althing met here from 930 until 1798, and thus the land holds a special place in both Icelandic and world history. It’s also an adventurer’s paradise, with a range of hiking routes, dramatic waterfalls and rugged geological formations.
