The staff there are fantastic. It is located conveniently to shopping areas and stations. It is also close to the river. walking along the river bank in sunny days in winter was very enjoyable and it was not crowded.

Everything was to our pleasure during the week we stayed at Cross Hotel in July 2023. Comfortable beds, a luxurious feel in large modern quiet rooms with a small fridge, good cleaning, extremely helpful reception staff. Complementary coffee in the reception area. Self-checkin worked fine with help from staff. The location is superb smack bang in the center of Kyoto. Sanjo station within short walking distance.

Hotel Rinn Gion Shirakawa exceeded all of our expectations. The calm atmosphere and impeccable service. A gem in the heart of one of Kyoto’s most picturesque neighbourhoods. Ideally located in Gion district, a short walk from the famous Shirakawa Canal, the hotel’s proximity to key attractions, two metro stations and major Bus depot makes it a fantastic location for exploring the city. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, modern comfort with traditional Japanese elements and impeccably clean. The minimalist decor with wooden finishes, and tatami mats makes it really cosy and warm. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable with 2 large beds and a couch. The bathroom was equally impressive with twin washbasins, separated shower room with bathtub and a toilet. The staff is warm and very welcoming, Charlotte and her colleagues are very attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Received a ton of local recommendations, their hospitality was outstanding. We felt truly cared for during our stay, and their personal touch made all the difference. Sure to return in the near future

Good: - Blown away by the view! With mountains and river - Love the toiletries they provided. La Mer shampoo/body soap- i like it! Hair feels smooth and good after. - Spacious and clean room - good location! While its not at right smack at the bustling gion area, i very much preferred the short walk back to hotel. Feels serene. Right below, they have a train station and is sheltered (almost) all the way nishiki market! No worries for rain! - underground area has A LOT of things to shop for. Supermarket, local confectionery, restaurants, clothings - very fast response when contacting them online (via booking.com)

5 min walk to Sanjo station, makes it very easy to get around. 10-15 min walk to old Gion and shopping in Kawaramachi. room size is generous, and the kitchen and washer-dryer are a plus. kids love the tatami area. we reserved the spa and we had it all to ourselves, the price was very reasonable. comfortable beds too.

The area was great, about a 2 minute walk to the Sanjo station and bus stops. We never had to walk more than 5 minutes to get to public transport, or walk home from coming off of public transport. The room was nice and modern, the bathroom was great. The staff was helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Definitely check out the restaurants/izakayas in the Kami...

Definitely check out the restaurants/izakayas in the Kami river vincinity, especially between shijo and sanjo for a river-view tatami. That's the way Japanese have done it since ancient times. A sip of sake and enjoy the beautiful views of the riverbanks. Ah, watch out for bugs though.
