Hotel exceeded all expectations. The room, staff, service, onsen and fire place were lovely. The free drinks, snacks in the library was generous and it was a pleasure to sit there with the other hotel guests. Location was brilliant just a few minutes walk from the station.

It was too expensive for one night and there were 3 people in the room. The best thing would have been 2 rooms. But booking couldn't understand me the many times I tried to explain this to them before visiting the hotel. But I was unsuccessful.

This was our favourite room of the entire trip. It was spacious, clean and super comfortable. It even had a closet with room for clothes. Loved the little table dining area with a view of the mountains. The host were very welcoming, kind and so helpful. I was wondering which would be the best route to start the Hakone loop and the host advice saved us time queuing on a busy long weekend. Take the S line bus to lake Ashi worked! Bonus, hosts speak English. Close to the Venetian glass museum which was terrific. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Incredible service by the staff. Will send drivers around on a golf cart if you call them, they can also pick you up with your luggage from the villa entrance. Right on the Hakone circuit, steps away from the Venetian Glass Museum. Good quality food, very peaceful surrounds, VERY nice rooms and private bath setup.

The Hakone Retreat Forë is an exceptional place to stay - wonderful staff, extra treats such as sake and marshmallows round a fire as a welcome moment, slippers, cosy jackets to wear around the property, a serene onsen which is open most of the day, absolutely delicious food and although it feels like a 'world apart' from the rest of Hakone, the Venetian glass museum is a few minutes walk, Hakone Open air museum and the ropeway, an easy bus ride away. I travelled with my adult children and we all wished we could have stayed longer.
