Modlin Fortress is an extraordinary complex of fortified structures, originally conceived by Napoleon Bonaparte. Situated on the outskirts of Warsaw, on the banks of the Vistula, this impressive edifice held out one day longer than the capital at the start of WWII. Extensive hiking trails will take you around the fortress’s towers, walls and barracks. The vantage point atop Poniatowski Gate offers a wider view.
