There really isn’t anything not to like. It was a magical restful time and exactly what we needed after a crazy year.

Offering game drives, wildlife viewing opportunities and a swimming pool, Mologa River Lodge is nestled in the African bushveld between Rust de Winter Dam and the Gauteng hills. The place looks just as amazing as it did the first time we visited. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it truly feels like a space to relax. This was our second visit, yet the beauty of the place still takes my breath away.

Situated on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Sterkstroom River, this luxury lodge features suites with private terraces and plunge pools surrounded by the indigenous bushveld. Beautiful location and magical serenity. Elegant but at the same time casual and friendly. Wonderful staff. And then there is the wildlife!

It's conveniently located in the centre with convenience stores nearby. The quality of the coffee was a big bonus.

The accommodation is outstanding, the experiences they offer are amazing, but most of all, the team at Lichenry are exceptional. They make you feel at home right away. The service is more than 5 star. They make you feel so comfortable. And the food, simply out of this world. Richard is the lynchpin to this phenomenal operation of great service and conservation. He is so knowledgeable about the animals and a fantastic guide and Ranger. Patrick at Front of House makes sure everything is perfect for guests and Doubt, makes sure you are watered and fed with grace and amazing service and humour . I can't say enough about the amazing chef.. The food is as good as any Michelin star restaurant in London. This is a gem of a place that has been hidden too long from the UK traveller to South Africa. It is so with the 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg. This is South Africa at its best.

Our time at Ndlovu was a magical experience that we will never forget. It was the team that made our trip truly special. April, our guide, was kind, thoughtful and incredibly knowledgeable - we are so grateful to him for all his efforts to give us the best possible experience. We saw everything we could have hoped for (elephants, lions, rhinos, hippos, etc), including a cheetah kill just metres away. This was a very rare and fantastic sight, and April made sure we were among the first in Welgevonden to see it. Peter’s food was outstanding - every single meal was beautiful, creative and delicious, even for the fussiest member of our party with limited dietary requirements. Our eland was cooked to perfection - we have never eaten so much because it was just so tasty. Zack (“Fish”) was always so friendly and helpful to us. He is a real asset to the Ndlovu team. Sanete is a warm and wonderful host who made us feel cared for and completely at home. She gave Emily a huge hug when she cried as we were leaving. The lodge itself is beautiful, with a real sense of comfort, style and African luxury. It is small but perfect, and everything from the landscaping to the bathrooms is exquisitely and thoughtfully designed. The rooms were peaceful, private and generously equipped, but less than a minute's walk from the other facilities. Each lodge has its own private pool and decked area, and there is also a lovely shared pool, deck and relaxation spaces for drinks, snacks and games. It is strange to think that a few days in an unfamiliar place could be a life-changing experience for two rather introverted people, but our stay at Ndlovu opened our eyes to the beauty of the world and the joy of meeting new people. We came home feeling adventurous, peaceful and happy. We made some wonderful friends, left with some treasured memories and keepsakes, and are planning to come back in January (it can't come soon enough). We’re missing Ndlovu and think of it every day.

Set in Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Limpopo Region, 14 km from Vaalwater, Nedile Lodge features a year-round outdoor pool and views of the mountain. Caracal Plane is 19 km from the property. Our experience at Nedile was amazing!! The views are absolutely breathtaking. The lodge is truly luxurious. The game viewing was spectacular - we even had a herd of elephants come up to the lodge and drink from the swimming pool. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
