Shikinosato Hanamura ligt in Minamioguni, op 39 km van Aso vulkaan, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een terras. Room was very spacious. There were 3 heaters in the room, so definately warm enough to anyone's liking if you needed. Room onsen was nice. Food was in a private dining room for dinner and breakfast. There was a very nice lounge to relax in as well. There is a public cave onsen that was quite special. In winter, roads may have snow and need to be wary if driving in.

Hanare no Yado Hanagokoro is gelegen in Minamioguni, op 40 km van Aso vulkaan en 49 km van Kinrinko Meer, en biedt accommodatie met een restaurant en gratis privéparkeren. Extraordinary Ryokan in a very remote location. The food was very good and the people were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan beschikt over 5 warmwaterbronnen, waaronder een 30 meter lang grotbad. We spent 3 nights at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihonbashi Kayabacho hotel after arriving in Japan (There is another Fresa Inn in the area, so make sure this is where you have your reservation). It is a relatively modern, functional hotel sometimes referred to as a business hotel.  The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very small as is typical in Tokyo but very clean and functional.  The hotel is convenient to Tokyo station (20 minutes walking as a reference). After arriving on the Narita Express or by others means to Tokyo station, follow signs to the Tozai line (sky blue) subway. The easiest way to know which direction to go is to look at the numbers representing the stops.  The Tokyo station stop at Otemachi is T-9 and you want to go to T-7 Kayabacho. Leave the Kayabacho subway station via Exit 7 and the hotel is just around the corner.  From Kayabaco or the nearby Nihonbashi station, you can get all around Tokyo on the highly efficient subway system.  Use a Suica, Welcome Suica or Pasmo card to enter and exit subways and avoid the hassle of figuring out which ticket to buy or how much they coat. Just tap and go.  Enjoy. Kokura,Onsen EXPERIENCE JAPAN LIKE THE JAPANESE We decided to spend a couple of days in central Kyushu to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Boy, was that a great call! I88We stayed at the Yama no Yado Shinmeikan  in the Kokura Onsen area, which is an hour north of Aso city by bus. The ryokan is 130 years old but is clean and well-maintained. It features a total of 5 unique onsens, including one carved into a cave.  The ambiance is terrific and the staff is super friendly and helpful.  The ryokan is located along a flowing river and the sound of running water adds to the relaxing quality of the stay.  (The Fuji room is best). All accommodations are traditional Japanese tatami rooms which are made up for sleep each night by the staff as you enjoy the onsen baths.

Hotel Yumeshizuku ligt in Minami Aso in de regio Kumamoto, op 10 km van Naka-dake. Het beschikt over een warmwaterbron en een sauna. Zeer ruime en comfortabele suite. Mooie locatie van hotel met fantastisch uitzicht. Personeel allemaal zeer vriendelijk en aantal medewerkers die goed Engels spreken. Uitgebreid lekker diner en ontbijt. Prive binnen en buiten onsen bij de kamer waren mooi.

Nanjoen ligt in het centrum van de wijk Kurokawa Onsen en biedt in totaal 8 warmwaterbronnen binnen en buiten. Everything; the hospitality of the staff, kaiseki in private dining room, the room, and private onsen.

Fumoto Ryokan biedt verschillende binnen- en buitenbaden met warm bronwater en traditionele accommodatie in Japanse stijl met historische charme. Our stay at Fumoto Ryokan was absolutely incredible. The staff did a fantastic job throughout our stay and making sure every detail of the trip was just perfect. Our room had a wonderful view of the adjacent river and was so comfortable and spacious - a nice change of pace after traveling Japans big cities. Even as a very tall guy, they provided me with an appropriate Yukuta and I could enjoy the onsen experience in full. The baths themselves are amazing - both the shared outdoor one and the private bath rooms. There are plenty of the latter, so if you prefer your privacy you‘ll have plenty of options, some of them even with outdoor views. Then there is the food. The courses are absolutely delicious and so plentiful, that we found ourselves struggling to finish all of it sometimes. The quality of the dishes and the presentation is so high, the (not cheap) room price seems very reasonable in hindsight. To sum it up: this was a 10/10 experience and we can’t wait to come back someday.
