Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and a lift, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan has family rooms as well as facilities for disabled guests. The tatami room was lovely and the bed very comfortable for a futon type. There are a number of different style rooms. We especially booked a room with a private outdoor shower and bath. The food was superb in every respect. There were a number of beers available and, surely, there is a taste to appeal to everyone. The staff were caring and took time to understand the hotel guests. The communal bath was nice and the outdoor areas in general were pleasant. The test of a hotel is to positively answer the question, 'would you stay here again?' Our answer is that we returned after visiting here a year ago, except this time we doubled the length of our stay.
Tendo Onsen, Tendo
The ryokan offers soothing natural hot spring bath in natural stone tubs and an open-air hot springs bath. A shared lounge features a tatami (woven-straw) floor and view of a Japanese garden. The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. Everything, from the food to the room. I booked the smallest room which I did not know that there is a private onsen. My meals were in a separated room which I feel is better than having inside my own room. This hotel is worth staying for the experience. There are guests around but I was surprised to not hear any noises. I felt like I was being served as a royalty. The sake that I had, does not have any alcohol smell, it tasted so good and it had a cherry taste to it. I enjoyed the private outdoor onsen and I regretted not trying the public onsen. Also, breakfast usually starts at 730am but I had a train to catch, the hotel offered to serve breakfast at 7am. I was already awake at 5am to enjoy the onsen for the last time. My dinner was at 6pm which was the earliest timing.

We liked that it was a quiet and private space where we could rest without the hustle and bustle of the city. The environment and the layout of the ryokan, creates such a serene space for us. Which was exactly what we wanted. The services and the food it was exceptional. Every meal we had felt like it was so well taken care of and of such high quality. It was so healthy and delicious all at the same time. Every dish was amazing but We would never forget the beef we had there and the seaweed porridge and the many side dishes that came with them those were the highlight for us. The shuttle services were really handy for us travelling in and out of the ryokan.

Super nice staff, they parked the car and explained everything. Room had a private onsen bath tube and was spacious. Public onsen was empty when i went there and had also a nice outside onsen. Dinner was great in a private room and brekkie was also amazing, served in a private room
The place was amazing. Beautiful and large room, very comfortable. We absolutely loved the food, especially the Yamagata wagyu! It was delicious and the meals were so beautiful and plentiful. We bought many items from the hotel gift shop - they carry very nice souvenirs. Rooftop outdoor private onsen for free - an amazing addition to an already wonderful stay.
Breakfast was Japanese healthy food. Dinner was delicious and good portion. Hotel was big enough that we did not see lots of other guest. The room with private onsen was great. The public onsen was clean and big. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
This hotel was absolutely lovely. It was clean and spacious. It was more traditional than some of the previous places and that is exactly what we were looking for. After 2 weeks in Japan, we used this location for a rest day. The Hot Spring baths and Onsen were beautiful and gorgeous. Perfect for what we were looking for. The staff also seemed to go above and beyond for us in every way.
Close to the property. Love the private onsen, the host even provides the local milk to the customer to enjoy after soaking in the hot spring. Also the shuttle bus service is pretty handy.
We stayed at the room with toilet and bath. The room is new and clean. The shared bathrooms on the first floor are small but also very clean. The onsen water is not too cold or too warm. The breakfast is also very enjoyable. The ryokan owners are kind. This is a nice experience.
Our first Ryokan experience and it didn't disappoint. We love our room and the private onsen inside! And the view from our room was breathtaking. We also enjoyed our breakfast and dinner. The staff doesn't speak much English but they tried very hard to help and accommodate our needs, we really appreciate that.
Meals - Go for the breakfast and dinner (full board) as the meals are excellent and portion is just out of this world. Public Onsen (Hot Spring Bath) - They have both indoor and outdoor section so it was great. Staffing - Everyone was uber friendly and helpful.
