We got here easily with a regular small car (VW Polo) and loved every moment of our stay. The pousada in Arpoador feels beautifully remote and quiet, yet welcoming and comfortable. For kitesurfing it is perfect with a huge lagoon right in front and several more spots just minutes away. It still feels like a hidden gem with endless space on the water. This was our fourth time in Brazil and we had never seen lagoons this big, with such steady winds and so few people. There are also great little trips nearby, like the dunes and the red birds in the jungle. The restaurant is excellent with a varied menu, and the staff and owner make you feel at home. Rooms are simple, clean and spacious. The shower deserves a special mention: the water pressure is so strong (which is uncommon in Brazil), a real treat after a sandy, salty session, especially if you have long hair. Getting here is easy too. Just ask the pousada for their video with directions, and locals in Tutoia are always happy to point the way.

We had an amazing experience at Vila Pequi in Barreirinhas. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. We were warmly welcomed with delicious Brazilian treats, and to our surprise, we were upgraded to a better accommodation, which made our stay even more special. 💬 Staff & Service The hospitality was outstanding. Ludimyla was incredibly helpful in organizing our excursions to Lençóis Maranhenses—her support made everything smooth and stress-free. Arlene, who assisted us daily, was always kind and attentive, doing everything she could to make our stay perfect. Their care and friendliness truly made us feel at home. 🛏️ Comfort & Location Vila Pequi is located about 15–20 minutes by car from Barreirinhas city center, so we recommend having a car. The roads from São Luís are in good condition, and a regular car is fine. Having a vehicle also makes it easier to explore the area and get to restaurants or shops. The property itself is peaceful, private, and ideal for relaxation. We loved being surrounded by nature, away from the noise, and found it to be the perfect place to rest and recharge. ✅ Overall This was a memorable stay. The combination of warm hospitality, tranquil setting, and thoughtful touches like the upgrade and welcome treats made it truly special. If you’re looking for a quiet escape with excellent service, Vila Pequi is highly recommended.

Very friendly and helpful, super nice . Good food and snacks. It can be used as kite club (locker, food etc) no need to sleep here. Very knowledgeable of the spot, possibilités around. The spot is amazing, huge lagoons. Nothing like it. Tue road is very easy for a 2wd.
