Terrific location in Kaikohe on the main street. Easy to find and run by a wonderful manager - Mihi. Nothing was too much trouble and she made us feel very welcome. There were secure facilities for our car and bikes (we were doing the Twin Coast Cycle trail).

If you are in the area, then make sure you stay at Paheke Lodge. It's a wonderful heritage property with loads of character and a beautiful garden. The owners are really helpful and friendly, and provide a fabulous freshly made healthy breakfast. The stewed plums, picked from the garden, are just amazing. You won't regret staying here.

The best B&B we ever visited, (and that includes UK and Ireland). For the breakfast all fruits and vegetables came from the garden, delicious homebaked scones. Large area with a great outdoors space. Definitely a great place to stay if you are visiting the bay of islands, which was one of my favorite places in New Zealand. We had one room with a lot of area, and another with very little area, so that was interesting.
