The place is beautiful, very quiet, and the welcome was so polite. I will recommend this hotel to my friends in France, and I truly hope to come back to Kusatsu one day. Arigatō gozaimasu! 🙏✨

Boasting garden views, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with balcony, around 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The ryokan has family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. We were travelling by train so it was very convenient for Tendou-san, the monk, to pick us up from the Takasaki train station for a reasonable additional charge. Tendou-san knew enough English to converse with us on the 30-minute drive to the hotel. The hotel is small and charming, next to the beautiful samurai temple and garden with a koi pond. The deluxe quadruple room was very large for just two people. The kotatsu table was a nice place to relax and be warm. The futons were very comfortable for sleeping. Like other reviews mention, some of the walls don't extend all the way up to the vaulted ceiling/roof, so there is potential for noise to pass in and out of rooms. However, we were the only ones there that night (others were dissuaded by snow forecast) so we had the whole place to ourselves. We had dinner and breakfast; both were delicious with large portions. We participated in the morning meditation. Tendou-san explained some history of the temple, initiated our meditation, and then left us to finish we felt ready to be done. It was a very nice experience that I would recommend to anyone!

Everything is well taken care of and she makes our stay very comfortable. I hardly write review but this definitely deserve a Highly recommended place to stay

This Ryokan is phenomenal. - Breakfast and dinner, exceptional. Probably the greatest thing we like about the Ryokan. - The room, it was amazing, clean and tidy - We only used the private onsen (which is first come first serve basis, no booking required), temperature is just right with great view once you opened the window.

The hospitality was excellent, the rooms clean and beautiful, the hot spring was perfect, and on top of that the food was also well proportioned and delicious. Would stay here again next time we come to Minakami.

Hanaingen is an adult only accommodation situated in Kusatsu, just a 2-minute walk from Yubatake, or the hot water field in Kusatsu Onsen. Free private parking is available on site and free WiFi is available in all guest rooms. The place had amazing customer service as well facilities. Traditional tea and snacks on arrival and morning breakfast provide was great. They four private onsen rooms if you are couple and prefer being alone. Facility is clean beyond expectation.
