There are not many people in the guesthouse, so it’s a really nice place to calm down.

From the picture-perfect location to the amazing hospitality of our minshuku hosts. Despite the language barrier, our hosts were prompt in meeting our every need. Every meal was delicious and prepared with love and care. The sleeping area was traditional Japanese whereas the bathroom was modern, so we had both a cultural immersion and modern comforts. We were a family of 5 so we had the entire minshuku to ourselves. This is the most special stay we had in our 2-week holiday in Japan. There is something magical about spending the night in Ainokura, and we are thankful for having had the privilege.

Such an incredible place to stay - most people come to visit the Gassho villages on day trips but being able to do a homestay in the village itself was amazing and a truly unique experience. Our hosts were such a lovely couple, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and tell us about their lives and experiences in the village. Even though we don't know Japanese, our hosts managed to tell us about food, music and the way of life in the village. We're both vegetarian and they went out of their way to make us a delicious meal out of local produce.
