Very friendly welcome and owner, who arranged for our rental Tuktuk to be picked up from his property, and also booked us an early taxi to the train station.

The location of the hotel was perfect for me as it is exactly between the beautiful beach of Passikudah and the city of Valachchenai. Where do I even begin? What a hotel! Very intimate and cozy, the room was pristine and the staff is amazing. The food is just too delicious. Namal was very kind to us and Umberto (the GM) such a pleasant acquaintance! We felt home. They were so nice to even add a bed for a friend who joined us last minute!

Echt een aanrader. Strand helemaal voor jezelf om 2 minuten lopen, met heerlijk zwemwater. Prima eetgelegenheid op 10 minuten lopen. Ja, het is afgelegen maar de eigenaar help graag met regelen van vervoer.

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The hotel welcomes all new guests with flower necklaces and cool fruit drinks. The breakfast buffet options are numerous. We ordered a la carte lunch & dinner, and the food was always exceptional. (Note, the first night we wanted something that they didn’t have but they ordered it for the second night.) The room was ok, but all rooms come with a comfortable balcony to make up for what the room lacks. Also, the bathroom is about the same size as the room. The beach and the ocean are by far the main reason to come here. The warm ocean water is unparalleled and the hotel staff do a wonderful job keeping their section of the beach clean. The pool area is also nice, but we came for the beach and spent most of our time there. The kid space is lacking, but that’s ok as long as you aren’t there when it rains. Lastly, all the staff we encountered were professional. They helped arrange our departure taxi which actually was rather reasonably priced; meaning same price everyone seems to charge tourists 200 rupees per kilometer (rather than what locals pay which is like 120-150). Overall, I highly recommend staying here.
