This tidy and clean. You have the option to have fan or AC. The bathroom is outside with a roof, but all hotels are like this in this city. The owner is very nice and answers all questions very quickly. The hotel is well located, close to other hotels/restaurant and to KSL camp if you want to kite. I’ll come back!

The host, Roshan, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We even got a free upgrade for our room. The room was very clean, mosquito-free and very fancy! The location was very quiet, in the middle of nature and still quite close to the national park, where we had a great day organized by them as well. They arranged breakfast and lunch for us during this trip and we got to share a jeep last minute with another couple so it was a bit cheaper. The jeep driver was very capable, a very good driver with a sharp eye. We saw 4 leopards, 3 bears and all possible kinds of birds during our full day safari. The food was exceptional, we got an entire buffet for breakfast and dinner so you could choose what to eat, ranging from soup to Sri Lankan main dish and homemade desserts. They were very animal-friendly, with ducks, dogs and cats running around freely on the premises. In short: wonderful experience, do not hesitate to book!

Kitelantis provides lagoon front accommodation in Kalpitiya. Among the various facilities of this property are a water sports facilities and an outdoor swimming pool. Beautiful place, in front of an entrance of the ocean. Protected from winds. The resort is amazing. Rooms are big, new and clean. You’ll get an outdoor rest room, being able to shower outside underneath the palm trees, but with all the privacy. It’s just priceless. The resort has a pool, bar, and dining area, all overlooking the lagoon. Breakfast is very good and included, being able to choose between Sri Lankan or Western. You also have a set and changing menu for dinner if you’d like to. Staff is very welcoming, kind and accomodating. It’s an amazing place to stay and relax. Totally recommend it.

Windy Waves Kite Beach & Nature Resort is true to its name. Set in a beautiful location the huts and facilities are built from locally sourced natural materials in traditional village style (by the staff). It is an absolute treat if you like simplicity and sustainable design. The staff are warm and friendly and go above and beyond. When I left some things behind they were delivered back to Negombo at no cost. Super grateful for a memorable stay. Would love to come back.

Backwaters was a lovely spot on the doorstep to the western gate of Wilpattu. They organised a game drive for us (where we saw lots), a river trip and boat ride to our next destination. The rooms and grounds are full of nice, environmentally friendly touches, and the meals are great. Since the centre of the park is a little ways from this gate, a full day game drive turned out to be better than a half day - and allowed usto see lots of elephants at the end of the day.

Great location close to beach. This area SL low key not all built up, quieter! The great breezes make it kite surfers paradise, and the breezes make the huge covered porch a nice place to hang out.. The family that manages very helpful, content & beautiful. They make good food, and help arrange local needs. The first night I stayed in budget room, but then upgraded for 2 nights to the larger cabana because it has better cross ventilation & surfaces to put things on. Both size rooms have your own porch with cushioned seating. Neither rooms have a/c but you don't need it with the good breezes & room fans.
