The are directly around the hotel feels a bit abandoned (especially at night) but still safe for walking.

Lampang is such a pleasant city, and this was the best place to stay, within walking distance of everything...only 5 minutes from the walking street with beautiful old houses and 15 minutes from the historic wats and city walls or in the other direction, the clock tower and modern downtown. They called a horse carriage for us and we had a magnificent time seeing the wats while enjoying the city by a unique method. We would love to return here and stay again.
