I truly recommend House of Freedom. It is a perfect place if you want to experience the local culture and see how the locals live. I've spent 24 hours with Isuru. We had a trip around Bundala, a motor night safari and morning birds watching. Additionally lunch in his family house and evening barbecue. The house and room are humble, but everything is clean and the hospitality is amazing. The sourounding is breathtaking. No tourists around. It was an unfargetable experience!

We had a fantastic stay. We arrived and were warmly welcomed. Our room was ready and it looked great. We had a room with sea view. We were immediately offered a beer on arrival and in the evening the host prepared fresh fish, shrimps, chips and rice for us. One of the best dishes we've had in Sri Lanka. The accommodation is located directly at sea, so you have a lot of peace here. The host is very helpful and will make your stay comfortable.

This is a wonderful place to stay; fantastic if you are on a budget and understand the facilities are basic. There is electricity, warm water and a comfortable bed...in a fabulous location with fabulous hosts. You will see an array of wildlife (porcupine, bats, crocs, elephants and exotic birds). Danoushka and Anousha were warm, welcoming and kind. We loved our stay here and felt part of nature. Anousha cooks delicious Sri Lankan food and Danoushka is knowledgeable about the local area; We went on a tuk tuk drive with him to see various temples and sites of historic importance - a highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka. My husband also did an early morning bird spotting safari on the back of a motor bike which enabled him to take some close shots of the abundant bird life. Jungle cabin gave us the experience of "real" Sri Lanka and, as a middle aged couple, it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with the hosts and enjoy their home. We would not hesitate to recommend this as a rustic place to stay...make the most of Danoushka's local and wildlife knowledge and...enjoy the tranquility.

One of the best accomodation excperiences we’ve ever had. It was so much more than just a place to stay. From the moment we met our hosts we were made to feel like part of the family. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and their hospitality never ceased to amaze. As if a beautifully maintained, quiet, calm and meticulously clean property in addition to some amazing food were not enough, the host showed us places we would never have found on our own. Its speaks for itself that the safary in Yala National Park was not even half as interesting as the late night tour our host gave us in his village. Clean room, very good hospitality, good breakfast. The owner cooked for us a very delicious dinner and the breakfast was ready to take away at 5 am for our safari trip. Much appreciation for her hospitality and effort. Even if we stayed one night we recommend for long accomodation.
