The manager, Sheriff, really seems to love what he does...and you can feel it in every little detail around the place. The hotel itself is so well thought out. My room was beautiful, with an amazing view of the Nile and the Nubian village. During the day, you can watch the boats drifting by, and at night, the lights of the village give off such a peaceful, magical vibe. It’s located on a small island, which makes it super calm and relaxing. There’s even a little farm! It’s eco-friendly, pet-friendly, and Zaazouaa (the sweetest welcome committee ever) greets every guest as they arrive.

The property has mountain and river views, and is 7.6 km from Aga Khan Mausoleum. The guest house features family rooms. The rooms where spacious and clean. I live a balcony and my room had that, i could open my balcony and see allt of the village. It was a quick walk to the ferry station and stores. Upon arrival Tamer send is a cab to gather all our belongings and bring us to the guest house. My children and his children played for hours. They didn’t want to leave. Daily we had breakfast and dinner at the guest house and it was delicious. We had a hard time finding a cheap ride home, Tamer was able to arrange a ride for us at a rate we could afford. If your looking for a safe space single or family, this is an awesome guest house to stay at. The picture below is the view as you approach the island.

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Artika Wadi Kiki Hotel features accommodation with ski-to-door access and free WiFi. We opted for the taxi service and were met at the airport by a lovely person (sorry, I’ve forgotten all names!) who got us there while pointing out all the local sights. On arriving, what a lovely place! Artika feels absolutely serene, you have the Nile right next to you, and it’s all so quiet. Food was absolutely delicious (with fantastic vegetarian and vegan options), and the drinks were great too. Everyone working was absolutely lovely, and so helpful and caring. Always willing to help with anything you could possibly think of or need. Blissful. They had a few really cute and friendly dogs and puppies as well, but were also always ready to move them away for someone in our group who was scared of dogs. Rooms were really spacious and the beds are huge! Overall, an absolute pleasure to stay here, and would love to come back again! Thank you so much for everything, to all the staff at Artika.

This was our first stop in our trip to Egypt and we were so impressed. TLDR: There is no better place to stay in Aswan. Muhammed, the host, turned out to be way more than just a host. He assisted us with the bookings of all our trips and helped us navigate Aswan. If you have any questions or would like assistance with bookings ask Muhammed. He arranged our pick-up from the Aswan Airport and our transfer from Aswan to Luxor. The prices he proposed are very fair. With regards to the rooms, it was clean and spacious and we even had our own small balcony. It is not a 5* hotel, but it is a very nice guest house that really gives you a Egyptian living experience. Esra, our Hostess, was wonderfully friendly. She prepared our breakfast every morning and we were made to feel part of the family. The Elephantine Island is very safe and you can walk from one point to the other in between houses without any problems. There is a public ferry that takes you from and to the island throughout the day at a fee of 10EGP per person. There is no need to take a private boat. The people on the island (and Egypt in general) are very friendly. Many want to sell you something, but if you say no with a smile they will not hassle you to much and you might strike up a fun conversation. Please do yourself a favour and stay at this guest house.
