We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

ALFACIO RESORT STAY ITOSHIMA se encuentra en Itoshima, a 36 km de Estadio Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome y a 36 km de Torre Fukuoka. It was straight out of dreams. Absolutely amazing property. Very clean , quite spacious . Kitchen was perfectly stocked with all the utensils to prepare dishes.Resort staff was very helpful Best part just 5 min walk from station . View is mesmerising from all the rooms. Just perfect .

I had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at Ikkoten with my three children, and our stay was nothing short of perfection. We were originally going to stay as a family of 5 at the KAI Yufuin but when an important business trip took my husband out of the vacation we had to quickly pivot because my ten year old son wouldn’t have been able to use the hot springs alone there. The reservable family onsen as well as our private indoor/outdoor onsen (we stayed in Kyara) allowed him to have as wonderful an experience as the girls and I. While the family onsen is great, we loved the convenience and privacy of our private one so much that we ended up using the family onsen only once. Notably, this is not a part of Japan where there’s a ton of English spoken, but the staff at Ikkoten had excellent English, which was super helpful for us as American visitors. They were super accommodating of the kids and provided samue (pajamas that are also worn to meals), geta (wooden sandals), and slippers in multiple sizes. The grounds are beautiful - a back drop of tall seeene forest (you can always here the serene sound of wind rushing through the leaves and pine needles), mountains at Mt Yufu on the other sides, and then a beautiful manicured garden. Our late March stay marked the beginnings of all kinds of blooms, and just standing outside you’d catch the perfumed scent of all kinds of beautiful flowers. The meals were absolutely incredible. The kids got wonderful multi-course meals of rice and tempura and miso soup (with a little bit of new and interesting dishes to try too). My 12 year old daughter was considered an adult by the resort, but when I requested kids meals for her, they were happy to pivot after 24 hours (the kaiseki meals were just too much for her 40kg frame!!). But those kaiseki meals were truly scrumptious. When booking the property for multiple nights, I hadn’t realized how overwhelming they could be, and I swear I gained like 10lbs just in those 3 days alone!!

Enokiya Ryokan está muy bien situado en el barrio de Yufuin Onsen, Yufu, a 45 km de Oita Bank Dome, a 7 min a pie de Lago Kinrinko y a 25 km de Estación de tren de Beppu. Amazing place, staff is very friendly, private Onsens are very nice, location is amazing. The room was very clean and with beautiful details and the bed was super comfy.

The location on the banks of a river and within walking distance of beaches and coffee shops was lovely. The spa and outdoor bath was a great way to end the day. We travelled with family and the little kids loved exploring around the "boxes", looking for crabs, and catching bugs (with thoughtfully provided nets and containers). It was great to have space outdoors to relax, and they even provided bug spray! The shipping containers were well insulated and the furniture and utensils were very high quality (Hay). Fresh coffee beans/bags, grinder and drip filter were appreciated. Staff responded promptly (on Line) to supply amenities, including coals for the Weber bbq.
