We stayed on futons on the floor, ate cross-legged by the hearth, watched the sunset over the valley each night, frequented the 'sake shrine' 😋, made our own onigiri for our long travel day 🍙, and even helped cut wood for cooking rice and heating the bath (which overlooks the valley). Maybe it doesn't sound like much, but it was so special - it is so hard to describe! We've never been so well taken care of as we were with Shino-san! Our toddler came to love Shino-san, smiling quickly whenever he'd say hi, and by the end of our stay she would strut into the dining room and plop down on her chair to patiently wait for Shino-san's delicious food! It felt like home.
