Close to recommendable restaurants and shops.. and the trams and buses are easily accessible within a short walk. The hotel is well maintained, tastefully decorated and all areas were kept clean, at all times. Our room was comfortable, again interestingly furnished and the heating/air-conditioning worked well. We appreciated the room safe and the complementary bottled water, replenished every day. Both the breakfast room and the bar area were light and airy...and had it been warm enough in the morning, we certainly would have sat on the delightful garden terrace. Breakfast was not included in our booking and at first, threatened to be rather expensive for us vegetarians who usually only eat fresh fruit and yoghurt to start the day; however, the variety of food available, here, ranks amongst our three top favourites and we were tempted on all five days of our stay. Really impressed to find roasted vegetables, a good selection of fresh fruits, soya yogurts, vegan paté and particularly, an incredible selection of proper, loose-leafed teas, rather than teabags! Service was professional and friendly and displays were replenished regularly. Nevertheless, a hotel stay is all about staff and service and the staff, here, deserve a special mention. From our arrival until our departure, the service was faultless in every area. Every query or request was dealt with immediately and efficiently in the warmest of manners. Special thanks to Stefan, Tony, Marcus, Michael and Katryn for making our stay such an enjoyable one and we look forward to visiting again.Guest review byRobertaSpain

Very quiet place by the river, in winter peace and quiet. There is no new renovation, so expect a simple, neat room not overloaded with furniture, with white walls. Good location. You can get there from the airport by train. The hotel is 5 minutes from the station. The Lidl grocery store is across the street. We chose this hotel because it is very close to the Sanssouci Park, which we were going to visit. Potsdam's Brandenburg Gate and the city center are two tram stops away, or you can walk there. Some of the most important historic buildings in Potsdam have lately been rebuilt, so now is the time to visit. About the size of Cambridge in the UK, the city used to be the seat of the Kings and Queens of Prussia, and is chock full of historic building and palaces and parks to the point of surfeit. It's very easy to get around with local trams, and sits on the confluence of several beautiful lakes. It is also on the Berlin suburban and regional train network, of course. A clean and attractive city, with lots to see and a very pleasant ambience. Outside of the obvious attractions like the Sanssouci Palace, there are hidden gems dotted within a 20 minute walk out of the centre. There are myriad places to eat and the transport options are excellent. It is also a great base from which to explore Berlin. It is worth buying a "Berlin Welcome Card" in advance of the trip as this gets rid of wasting time with individual transport tickets as well as providing discounts on attractions.Guest review bystephenUnited Kingdom
