We arrived late after a rather long journey from Hamburg Airport. On arrival 2 tired people were met by a lovely man on reception. He simply said "why don't you head over to the restaurant and we will take care of everything". There was no pressure to check in and sign. So on return we went to our room where our cases were waiting for us. We were immediately relaxed and it was a great start to our holiday. The room was sumptuous and everything worked perfectly. Staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast was fabulous. Even the owner came to chat to us over dinner to see if we were enjoying our stay. The garden was an oasis and the roof top pool was fabulous. Sellin itself is beautiful. The architecture was amazing. Binz, Baabe and Gohren were also lovely. Prora is a must to visit and take advantage of the cycling and the steam train is wonderful. Linking the resorts. Thankyou Roewers.....we hope to be back soon.

FAQs about hotels on Rügen

The Island Of Many Faces

Germany’s largest island, Rügen, is situated just off the Pomeranian coast and boasts an abundance of bays, peninsulas and headlands. Its long, sandy beaches and the chalk cliffs of the Jasmund National Park add even more beauty to the mix.

Connected to the mainland by the Strelasund Crossing, which combines 2 modern bridge links, the island is over 51 km long and almost 43 km wide. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany because of its watersports facilities, spas and lively piers.

You can get there not only by car but also by ferry, railway or even a charter flight from Berlin or Hamburg. Once arrived, you can choose between several resorts, the most popular of which are Schaabe, Glowe and Breege.

Rügen offers a really diverse landscape and something for every taste: from more crowded and vibrant seaside resorts to quieter and more contemplative villages. The island is mainly agricultural and fishing is its main focus. Therefore you can enjoy fresh herring or mackerel for your dinner!

With over 280 properties on the island of Rügen, Booking.com offers a wide choice between spa hotels, comfortable apartments and friendly guest houses, so dig in and find a perfect place for your holiday.

The town is very beautiful - nature, architecture, the beach. It's just exceptional, so many places to enjoy! Restaurants are very expensive and the food is either mediocre or really bad. If you really like good food, I'd recommend purchasing products in supermarket and cook at home. Little fish shops with smoked fish is the best food this place has to offer in my opinion.

Glowe, Germany is a small town on the Baltic Sea.

Glowe, Germany is a small town on the Baltic Sea. This is a vacation town. There was a grocery store, small miniature golf course, restaurants and vacation rentals. Not much else going on. That being said—if you want night life, look elsewhere. Perfect place for a weekend stay… awhile week I’d get bored.

Binz is a lovely little seaside town, we love the fischbrotchen and cycling culture. You can get around on foot easily, the beach is well divided and organized, and you can get around by bus or train. Clean public restrooms are everywhere. Dont come for party life, but definitely for relax, no matter the weather. Dont forget to add lunch at Karls Erdbeerhof to your Rugen bucket list.

Sassnitz was a lively, coastal holiday town with beautiful, large villas. The beech wood had lots of trails and was pretty but the chalk cliffs were spectacular along with the colour of the Baltic Sea. There is a small zoo which is very new with not many animals but the silver fox was exceptionally handsome.

The town is small but adorable: a cery calm vibe. a lot of flowers everywhere, very nice restaurants, small local shops hidden on the way to the harbour, a lovely promenade along the sea. Because it's so small everything is walking distance. If you want to make your way to other cities and parts of the island, there's good connections via ship, bus and train. The part of national park just around the corner is, in my opinion, way nicer than the upper part which is crowded and flooded with people. Of cause it depends on general vacations times but I was there in summer off holiday season and barely met anyone. All you hear and see is the ocean, birds and the wind in the trees - I find that hard to finda and I loved every second.
