FAQs about hotels in La Rioja
A Land of Sun and Wine
Best known for its delicious quality wine, La Rioja is a region in northern Spain featuring over 500 wineries, beautiful nature and a variety of cultural attractions. From dinosaur remains through to hot springs relaxation and the pilgrim route of Saint James, La Rioja truly has it all!
Start your journey at the region’s capital, Logroño, a city fantastically preserved since the Middle Ages and an important part of the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim’s Route. Stop by its unique taperias, which often specialise in just one type of tapas but offer a wide choice of local wine to accompany your meal.
From there you can travel north to Haro, most famous for its annual wine festival, during which a wine battle is held and wine streams down thousands of throats as well as thousands of tops. To rest after all that fun, make your way towards Arnedillo, a charming spa town, where you can lay your head down and enjoy hot springs and mud treatments.
La Rioja is a region with plenty to see and do. You can wander the streets of picturesque towns full of history, follow wine routes to learn about winemaking or enjoy open spaces of high mountains and almost lunar landscapes.
Booking.com can help you find the best hotels, whether boutique or luxury, to make your stay in La Rioja a perfect experience.

- From US$286.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 307 reviewsThe location on the river is incredible. The room was big and modern. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. The patio overlooking the river is a wonderful place to relax, read, have a drink. The cellar/bodega which is probably 400 years old is worth seeing.Guest review byJohnCanada

Logron~o is an ideal base for exploring Rioja and its wines.
Logron~o is an ideal base for exploring Rioja and its wines. It also seems to be very popular with people doing the Camino de Santiago. It is a lively town, with an interesting old-town, as well as newer and very-new areas surrounding it. The municipal park along the River Ebro provides a surprisingly quiet ambience within minutes of the rest of the town. The main tourist area is around Calle del Laurel which has a great variety of tapas bars and wine bars - but almost every area has some area for wine and food. Just beware of meal times - it is hard to get anything other than small tapas between 2pm and 8pm as there seem to be no all-day restaurants like VIPS (no snotty comments please - no . Taxis are a good option for nearby wineries but you have to queue or phone for one like in the 90s - apparently taxi apps aren't a thing yet. The strangest gap is public transport to Haro, which arguably has more bodegas than Logron~o but not much by way of hotels or evening restaurants. The first bus or train from Logron~o to Haro seems to arrive just as many of the wineries stop their tours around 2pm, and the last bus/train back from Haro seems to leave at 5pm, before anywhere opens for dinner. (I'd love to be corrected on this, in time for my next visit!)Guest review byBrendanIreland - 10.0

Haro is the wine capital of La Rioja and a must visit for all wine lovers! The bodegas are all unique and provide excellent service, wine, and tapas. The town is lovely and was very quiet when we visited in April.Guest review byJekaterinaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The Parador was a traditional hotel in an ancient building -...
The Parador was a traditional hotel in an ancient building - the 11th century hospital built for pilgrims. Good rooms, (we had a fantastic view over the square), and traditional restaurant with clean white tablecloths for all diners. Bathroom large and classic, very much to our taste, with large bath, marble floor and marble counter-top, but perhaps will be re-furbed in the coming years. Breakfast excellent, as is usual with paradors - for example, freshly-squeezed orange on tap plus excellent range of cold food. Plus hot food to order. Paradors (100 across Spain) are state-owned and run, so they are all similar in certain aspects. The town centre is historic, mainly traffic-free, and very charming - the outer parts just a normal everyday town. The St James pilgrim route is a very important part of the life of the town.Guest review byJUDITHUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Interesting city.
Interesting city. The Monastery of Santa María la Real is absolutely extraordinary. The preservation and the organization of the visit is fantastic. The city is full of history and it would take more time to discover the years of stories of tits streets and to share ore time with their people. People are kind and servicial. The geography itself it is quite interesting from a geological perspective. I would go back.Guest review byLauraPanama - 10.0

So many top class Bodega's within walking distance of hotel.
So many top class Bodega's within walking distance of hotel. This really is the heart of the Rioja wine region, and Cenicero a lovely Spanish village. Longroño was about 10miles away...a spralling town....but if you want peace, tranquility and authenticity it's Cenicero every time!Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Alfaro itself, like its hinterland, is not obviously...
Alfaro itself, like its hinterland, is not obviously appealing, but don't be put off. The storks nesting all around the town are the main attraction, with the Abbey roof covered with nests and nesting storks. February saw the nest-building in full swing as well as storks mating. Seeing them taking off and landing with all manner of nesting material in their beaks was worth the visit alone. A five minute drive takes you to the nature reserve on the river and there are minor archaeological sites a similar distance, but hardly worth the effort. Well worth the trip from here are the cave houses at Arguedas and the wilderness that is les Bardenas Reales - a good half day's excursion. Less than an hour's drive takes you into the Rioja region and the town of Cervera del Rio Alhama. Stunning views from the mirador over the river, well worth the climb. We could have spent far longer here and will definitely return.Guest review byGordonUnited Kingdom - 6.0
If you want a stunning location, with beautiful scenery,...
If you want a stunning location, with beautiful scenery, wildlife, rivers and rugged, rocky hills, this is it. There are also hot springs that can be used completely free of charge. That is what we came for and so our trip was not a disappointment. Arnedillo itself, is not in the best of shape. It has a lot of shops and restaurants that are closed down, and the few left open at odd hours (10 a.m. to 14:00). So if you want to buy food, you need to be up and out in the morning. As for the restaurants, you will see from the reviews that they are all much the same. The food is OK but the service is appalling. We waited 90 minutes the last time we went. You see people being served before you. There is a noticeable favouritism to locals. As a result we ate out only 3 times. After all, you begin to resent such poor treatment when you are paying handsomely for your dinner! Life is easier for drivers, as there are not many buses and the nearest taxi drivers are in Arnedo. We could only find ONE taxi driver in Arnedo, although I have been told there are 3. The bus timetable is really weird and would have given us a maximum hour at Mercadona to do our shopping. It certainly was no way to get out of town for sightseeing as you risked being stranded and unable to get home.Guest review byCharlotteUnited Kingdom - 10.0
