Great help from Tourist Information Office staff. Lovely town with a cathedral, riverside walks, thermal pools and good bars/restaurants. I would return! Friendly and accommodating owners. Although there wasn't much of a view owing to narrow streets the hostal is charmingly situated in the old town with the castle rearing above it. Small tawn with long history full of historical places. Beautyful river banks good for walking. Very tasty traditional food! There are Castle ruins, Etnological Museum of Ribadavia, several ancient Churches. We went only because of the free hot springs and it worked...
We went only because of the free hot springs and it worked well. On the weekends, we have to avoid them because there are many people. Besides that, the landscape around the village, serra do Xurês, is absolutely amazing, and those nature lovers will find have an unforgettable experience, walking or by car, always listening to running waters and sometimes a nice source with pure and crystalline water. What a pleasant surprise!!!
What a pleasant surprise!!! Have spent a lot time in southern Spain and Never made it to the north and it was great. Not overrun with tourists. We only heard English a few times in the streets. The location of the Monastery and the building is wonderful.
The location of the Monastery and the building is wonderful. However, it is showing it's age a bit, and aside from Breakfast - the food at the Parador is pretty bad. We ate at local restaurants (there are several within a 15-20 min drive). Small town with all the amenities. The public thermal baths are definitely the highlight - the Lobios one was especially nice with the light rain; the Bande ones, about 20min away by car, we still underwater so we couldn't experience them. There are many trails around, and you can opt for longer or shorter ones, none of the ones we did were especially difficult. Ask for a map in the tourism office or at your hotel, and take your pick. It's a lively city, and Outariz onsen was really wonderful!
It's a lively city, and Outariz onsen was really wonderful! But January is not the best time to go. Weather was cold and rainy, most Thermal springs were closed, and the Thermal train was down as well, making it extremely difficult and frustrating to get there and back.Guest review byDeLaniUnited States
